Junco wall light, designed by Jose Antonio Coderch, offers a subtle play of light and shadow characteristic of Coderch lamps in its iconic Disa and Cister lamps.
Junco wall light, designed by Jose Antonio Coderch, for Tunds
At the beginning of the 60s, the master architect Jose Antonio Coderch from Sentmenat began to propose the Junco wall light to his clients.
Its play of light and shadow is greatly reminiscent of those used by Coderch in its Disa and Cister lamps. The uniqueness of its manufacturing lies in using the rattan in a position contrary to its natural bending.
Pablo Picasso declared Coderch's bentwood designs to be "the most wonderful hanging lamp in the world." Conceived in the sixties, the production of the Junco wall light was initially supervised by Coderch's own sister.
The different sizes of this design found in the basement of his family home suggest that the architect had an affinity for this lamp, seeking to incorporate it into different projects.
This authorized reissue has been lovingly made by Tunds, and is handmade in Spain with the highest quality materials and respecting the environment.
The Junco lamp has remained on a very discreet level in recent years, either due to its purely artisanal essence, or due to the fate of the times that has pushed artisanal values to the corner.
