Junco table lamp, designed by Jose Antonio Coderch, for Tunds
The tabletop version of the Junco lamp is the result of a chance encounter of the object during a family visit where a unit dated between 1965 and 1970 was found.
Its play of light and shadow is greatly reminiscent of those used by Coderch in its Disa and Cister lamps. The uniqueness of its manufacturing lies in using the rattan in a position contrary to its natural bending.
Pablo Picasso declared Coderch's bentwood designs to be "the most wonderful hanging lamp in the world." Conceived in the sixties, the production of the Junco wall light was initially supervised by Coderch's own sister.
This authorized reissue has been lovingly made by Tunds, and is handmade in Spain with the highest quality materials and respecting the environment.
The Junco lamp has remained on a very discreet level in recent years, either due to its purely artisanal essence, or due to the fate of the times that has pushed artisanal values to the corner.
