Beveled Donut bistro table, designed by Lyon Béton.
When we think of a bistro table, we think of Parisian cafes and their impact on what makes French cafes famous. We think of Le Procope, the first true Parisian café where Voltaire, Rousseau, Diderot and Montesquieu sharpened their thoughts and where Danton, Marat and Robespierre later fomented the French Revolution. Obviously we think of Montmartre and Bon Bock, refuge of Picasso and Toulouse Lautrec. Or in the Café de Flore that saw the birth of the surrealist movement with Guillaume Apollinaire, then the existentialists, Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Albert Camus who made it their headquarters. They will have met the poets and musicians who brought jazz to France, Boris Vian at the forefront.
And yes, in France, very often it all starts around a bistro table.
Today, cafes and bistros remain places of artistic creation and intellectual and political debate. But they are also places that welcome authentic moments of life, meeting places, passages, exchanges, coexistence and, sometimes, rants.
In our eyes, they represent a certain art de vivre à la française. We love these places. They fascinate us. We want to make our modest contribution.
The Donut Bistro Table is a modernized classic. The form and function respect the standards of the genre: small tables for individual meals but that can be combined to accommodate a casual meeting.
The materials are decidedly modern. Cast iron, wood and zinc give way to aluminum and our famous concrete, used here as a decorative element and as ballast.
The top comes in 3 shapes: The Classic Round, The Rectangular Top which requires you to choose an orientation, and The Beveled Round which allows the table to be placed against a bulkhead without losing space or glued to a second identical table for elegant combinations.
Concrete is used as ballast. Its neutral color highlights the painted metal parts. The frieze, inspired by half brutalist, half art-deco, brings its personality to this table.
The frieze also gives a reading sensation that you can play with. By changing the orientation of the ballast in relation to the platform, you give a different visual rhythm to your space. Under the ballast you will find adjustable feet. No more coasters bent in four to balance a wobbly table.
Donut bistro tables are designed for the demands of catering professionals. They will certainly be able to satisfy people. These bistro tables are ideal for outdoor use. You can leave them on a patio or balcony without worrying about them getting damaged or staining your floor.
