Fragile table lamp, designed by Jaume Ramírez, inspired by table lamps in which a lampshade distributes light in all directions.
Fragile table lamp, designed by Jaume Ramírez, for Marset
Fascinated by timeless design, designer Jaume Ramírez is interested in the archetype of table lamp in which a lampshade distributes light in all directions. This is the starting point on which he reflects and experiments to propose a new glass design, with sharper shapes. The Fragile mixes geometric figures, a cone and a sphere are arranged to house a cylinder that emits ambient light from below.
In its form we recognize the past, in the material we find emotion. The glass reveals not only the light source, it speaks of purity, lightness and how this design blends into the scene. Its structure seems to hold up effortlessly, a very serious game in which everything is visible. The cylinder shades its warm, diffuse and gradual light.
Fragile synthesizes the past and the present. It brings to mind references such as oil lamps that also illuminate from bottom to top, or candles; However, its designer uses the language of glass to express the fragility of the contemporary moment. That is why this new design wants to be a recognition of the table lamp. A typology with a long history that, when applied with a material such as glass, once again surprises us with the delicacy of its forms.
