Description

Pap tall bookcase, designed by Tetsu Schokking, for Normann Copenhagen .

The Pap bookcase by Normann Copenhagen , designed by Tetsu Schokking, is a modular storage system born from research into materials and a design vision based on simplicity, functionality and circularity.

Its unique character begins with the material itself. The panels are made from discarded food packaging, such as milk cartons and other containers that would otherwise be incinerated. These are coarsely shredded to preserve small, visible fragments of their former life, while their own plastic layers melt and act as a natural binder, without the need for added chemicals.

The result is a warm, tactile, and nuanced surface, where subtle variations in color, texture, and pattern make each panel unique. A singular aesthetic that celebrates the material's recycled origins rather than concealing them, while maintaining a serene and balanced image.

Pap has been designed as a modular and adaptable system, available in high and low versions that can be combined and expanded to evolve with the needs of each space. Its shelves are height-adjustable, offering complete freedom to organize books, objects, and decorative items without imposing a specific function.

Its simple and rational construction reinforces this philosophy: it is delivered disassembled in a flat-pack format, is intuitive to assemble, and is designed for a long lifespan. Furthermore, the panel material can be granulated and reused.

Pap transforms everyday waste into a material with its own identity and demonstrates how intelligent design can transform discarded items into something beautiful, useful, and ready to evolve over time.
