Little Devil Cat

Little Devil Cat is one of the three characters in the triad You Choose One, a work with which Javier Calleja makes us think about the voice of conscience, that “Jiminy Cricket” that we all carry inside and on this occasion, that of the little devil.

Shaped like a cat, with bat wings, little horns and a tail that ends in a spear, it presents us with a devil that rather than frightening makes us want to take him home. His yellow glass eyes give him a very personal character and his handmade workmanship makes each cat unique.

Little Devil Cat is painted in a warm black with a gloss finish, a shade created ad hoc by Javier Calleja and our decoration team who have achieved it by developing a specially formulated reddish black.

Beneath an apparent formal simplicity, Little Devil Cat hides great complexity in its porcelain reproduction. The large dimensions of its head and the structure of its wings present a technical challenge, especially during the firing process, in which, like all Lladró creations, the piece is reduced by 15% in size. For this reduction to be successful and for the piece to retain its proportionality, many prior studies and maximum control over the porcelain are required. The result is a unique work of art signed by one of the most sought-after artists in the world of contemporary art.

A cat that, no matter how impish he is, or perhaps because of that, makes you fall in love.
