The In-Side collection by Magis, designed by Thomas Heatherwick, represents a revolution in outdoor furniture design. More than just a collection, it's a manifesto of innovation, technological research, and sustainability, where the material itself becomes the protagonist of the design.
Awarded an Honorable Mention at the 29th edition of the prestigious Compasso d'Oro ADI Award, In-Side demonstrates Magis' ability to challenge conventional manufacturing processes and develop new ways of creating contemporary furniture.
The collection consists of an armchair, a three-seater sofa and a coffee table, pieces designed to enjoy the outdoors in maximum comfort thanks to their generous proportions, ergonomic shapes and the possibility of incorporating optional cushions.
Its true uniqueness lies in the innovative rotational molding manufacturing process. Each piece is produced using a blend of post-consumer recycled polyethylene, which forms the main structure, and multi-colored post-industrial recycled polyethylene flakes. Once molded, the sides are carefully cut away to reveal the material's striking multicolored interior. These panels are then inverted and reattached to the structure, leaving this chromatic explosion visible and becoming the collection's signature feature.
The result is furniture where the material's interior becomes part of the exterior design, offering an unexpected texture and a visually striking depth. Thanks to this process, each piece is absolutely unique, as the distribution, size, and combination of the colored scales are never repeated.
