TMM lamp with cherry structure, designed by Miguel Milá, for Santa & Cole
This is perhaps the most celebrated work of one of the main pioneering masters of industrial design in Spain. This lamp was part of the first collection of TRAMO (“Annoying Work”), the company that Miguel Milá founded to self-produce his work in post-war times in Spain, when he began rudimentary with a profession that he would later develop with mastery, that of pre-industrial designer, looking for suitable solutions with the available technology. Works Annoying, Mila's names are like her objects: their depth lies in their simplicity. And this representative of the TM family, Tra-mo Mó-vil, this time in Madera, is presented as the informal alternative, or blue jeans, of it.
In a demonstration of formal serenity and functional efficiency, Miguel Milá managed to separate the three essential elements of any lamp: its structure, its electrical components and its lampshade, so that the user assembles them with extreme ease and enables better maintenance during its very long life useful life. And time beautifies it. The light source rotates circularly on the axis and can be raised or lowered like a flag on a pole.
A base in the shape of a blade supports a first section of the shaft, with a square section, which changes into a circular shape when it reaches its midpoint. The screen moves up and down through it, held at the desired height by the resistance of a simple toric rubber. A true lesson in intelligence and good taste with minimal use of components. This was the first Miguel Milá product reissued by Santa & Cole , in 1986, when it was already twenty-five years old, and today it presents a range of five different woods for its structure, and two shade colors, white or beige.
Height adjustable screen.
The lampshade is delivered with a cable, lamp holder and a fastening system to the structure.
The lamp is turned on and off with a slight pull on the cord.
