Sequoia Stool, designed by Torbjorn Anderssen & Espen Voll, for Magis Design
The project name of our 'Sequoia' bar stool was 'Forest', because the division of the axis into two tubes reminded us of a solid branch growing from the trunk of a tree.
Sequoia has a uniform and clearly recognizable graphic design: it reminds us of a calligraphic character. The support where the feet rest is in the form of a platform. This gives it a certain freedom of movement: it is as if we had raised a piece of ground.
For us, the similarity between the shape of the seat and the footrest is an important feature, because it gives more meaning to the division of the axis in the form of a branch. We researched various material technologies before arriving at a structure that is inspired by bicycle frames.
