Faces EF side table, designed by Nathan Yong, has a human, playful and sculptural touch.
Faces EF side table, designed by Nathan Yong, for Sancal.
Anthropomorphic figures or wooden blocks? Playing with perspectives and optical illusions, Nathan Yong shows the friendlier and more relaxed side of the craft of design.
And the Faces coffee tables have a clear anthropocentric focus, on the one hand, so linked to the sign of the times and the desire to show our faces in this new normality; On the other hand, so rooted in the essence of Sancal.
To respond to conventional functionality, the designer moves away from traditional aesthetics by resorting to unusual shapes that change appearance depending on the angle of observation. In this sense, small details are not superfluous as they add volume and allow Faces to go from being an animated object to being an abstract piece.
Beyond the functions of an auxiliary table, a support table or as a pedestal for plants or lamps, the warmth provided by its wooden body and the joviality of its humanized shape remind us of the importance of the emotions that can be transmitted by carefully furnished spaces.
Made of oak, the wood grains give it texture and expressiveness. The colors available can add even more character if we opt for a vibrant palette or make them a more discreet piece if we choose a finish in natural tones.
The two available measures reflect the diversity of human beings.
Be that as it may, this piece is very artistic. A cheerful and fun design that celebrates the sense of creativity in its purest state, without restrictions.
