Initially designed to take advantage of leftover wooden shipping crates by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934, the Crate collection has been relaunched in a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration.
Crafted from the original design, the Crate dining chair shares the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and streamline the assembly process.
With a gently sloping back and supportive armrests, the chair's simplicity and spatial design reflect the designer's architectural style, providing functionality and comfort without taking up space.
Constructed from solid pine, with a water-based lacquer finish in different color options, the Crate dining chair is suitable for a variety of outdoor settings and can be complemented with optional seat cushions in selected textiles for added comfort. .
Material: Solid pine wood, lacquered finish, with special surface treatment for outdoors; a primer and a two-layer coating.
