The complex simplicity of the Roll chair may be misleading at first. Just like the concept from which it starts. Mut sharpens his ingenuity to create perhaps his most ironic design. Inspired by the machines for working legs in the gym, this simple and original seat elegantly contradicts the main function of these complex devices: Roll offers rest to those who need a peaceful respite.
Stripped of ornaments and superfluous elements, the Valencian creatives reduce the conventional shape of a chair to two pure elements: steel tubes and two cylindrical pillows for the back and seat. The passion for the beauty of simple things and curved geometries are Mut's hallmarks also present in this new design for Sancal.
Its atypical silhouette, completely removed from the archetype, and the visual play of the cylinders exalts an everyday and industrial object and gives it an artistic touch that becomes even more evident when, by stacking several units, we create a kind of sculptural ensemble. In this way, Roll combines balance, beauty and functionality.
The brief list of materials used does not limit its customization possibilities, since its “rollers” can be upholstered in any fabric from our menu and combined with the twelve lacquers available for its steel structure. On the other hand, this rationalization of raw materials makes it more sustainable and simplifies its recycling process once its useful life has ended; which we predict will be very long because Roll is designed to last, both for its iconic and timeless design and its quality.
